Membership
Supporting the journal, separately from publishing in it
Membership is an optional arrangement between a researcher or an institution and Open Access Pub. It is entirely separate from the editorial process of the Journal of Digestive Disorders and Diagnosis.
That separation is the point of this page. A membership is a financial relationship with the publisher; peer review and the editorial decision are neither part of it nor affected by it.
The line that does not move
What membership does not touch
Editorial decisions are independent of fees, membership, editorial or reviewing roles, and optional author services. A member’s manuscript is screened, reviewed and decided on exactly the terms set out in the editorial policies, by the same people, against the same criteria.
Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal.
Membership confers no advantage in the review or acceptance of a member’s own manuscripts, and no member receives a different reading of their work.
Peer review
Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request.
Handling
A member’s submission enters the same queue, under the same editors, as any other.
What membership is
An arrangement with the publisher
Open Access Pub operates membership arrangements for individual researchers and for institutions. They exist to support open-access publishing, which carries its costs at the point of publication rather than at the point of reading.
Terms differ by arrangement and are settled directly with the publisher, so this page does not set out a schedule. Researchers and institutions considering membership should write to the editorial office and ask what currently applies to them.
Enquiries are answered directly by the editorial office, which can also confirm the article processing charge that applies to a given submission.
