Call for Papers
The journal is open for submissions across stem cell science, from the biology of identity and fate to the experimental systems that make it measurable and the translational work evaluated against its own design.

Journal of Evolving Stem Cell Research
The Journal of Evolving Stem Cell Research welcomes submissions throughout the year from researchers, clinicians, and multidisciplinary teams working across stem cell biology and its experimental and translational reach.
Regular submissions are accepted throughout the year.
Work the journal is looking for
Where a contribution fits
Each of these is a complete contribution in its own right. None of them is a step on the way to another.
Identity, potency and self-renewal
What defines a stem or progenitor state and how it is held or resolved: molecular and functional characterization, heterogeneity within a population, and the regulation of potency.
Fate and differentiation
The signals, niches, constraints and timing that settle lineage commitment; directed differentiation and its protocols; reprogramming and induced pluripotency.
Experimental systems
Culture systems, organoids and three-dimensional models, reporter lines, genome editing and lineage-tracing tools, scaffolds and engineered microenvironments, and disease models used in pharmacology and toxicology.
Stem cells in tissue and disease
Stem and progenitor biology in development, homeostasis, injury and repair; cancer stem cell biology; hematopoiesis and other lineage-specific programs.
Methods, characterization and reproducibility
Assay development and validation, authentication and quality control, quantitative and computational analysis, and reporting studies where the subject is stem cell research.
Carefully evaluated translation
Preclinical and early clinical work with cell-based and regenerative approaches, published with its design stated plainly and its conclusions kept to what that design supports.
Formats
Article types the journal accepts
Submissions are welcome in any of the journal's four formats.
- Original Research
- Full-length investigations presenting new findings.
- Technical Advances
- New methods, protocols or technologies that extend what can be measured or made.
- Review Articles
- Analyses that synthesize a body of published work.
- Clinical Studies
- Translational and clinical work with cell-based approaches.
Word, abstract and reference limits for each type are set out in the Instructions for Authors.
What submission involves
Before you send the manuscript
- How it will be assessed
- Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal. All submissions undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts that meet the journal's scope and minimum requirements proceed to independent peer review.
- Review model
- Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request. Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.
- Preparation
- Word limits, abstract and reference counts, figure and table requirements, and the cell-provenance reporting this field requires are set out in the author instructions.
- Publication terms
- Articles are published open access under CC BY 4.0. An article processing charge of USD 1,499 is invoiced only after acceptance.
How to submit
Submission routes
Authors must use only one submission route for the same manuscript.
Primary route: ManuscriptZone Alternative route: Simple manuscript submission form Assisted route: Editorial email ([email protected])
Full instructions, prerequisites and the requirements for each article type are on the Instructions for Authors page.
