Disciplinary breadth
What the board covers
The board spans the two halves of the journal’s remit and the economics that connect them: agricultural economics and policy, including the Common Agricultural Policy and agri-food markets; crop cultivation and farming systems, including abiotic stress and cereal production; animal feeding and meal supplementation; and agronomy with remote sensing, bioenergy and sustainability assessment.
Members are appointed for scholarly standing and subject expertise.
How the board works
From submission to decision
All submissions undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts that meet the journal’s scope and minimum requirements proceed to independent peer review.
Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request.
Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.
Decisions
Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal.
Editors recuse themselves from decisions on their own submissions; those manuscripts are handled independently.
The duties this page describes are set out in full on For Editors.
