About the International Journal of Inflammation Research
International Journal of Inflammation Research is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal that provides a scholarly venue for research into inflammation as a biological process and as a research problem — how inflammatory responses begin, how they are regulated, and how they resolve — across the experimental and disease contexts in which inflammation is studied.
A field of inquiry, read at connected levels
Inflammation is not a single subject approached by a single method. It is studied at levels that answer to one another, and work at any one of them can change how the others are read. The journal is organized around that continuity rather than around a division of territory.
Mechanism and regulation
The mediators, receptors, signaling routes and transcriptional control that set an inflammatory response in motion, sustain it, or hold it in check.
Cells, tissues and organs
The immune and resident cell populations that respond, and the tissue and organ environments that shape what a response becomes.
Disease contexts
Acute and chronic inflammatory conditions, and the experimental, animal and clinical settings in which they are investigated.
Resolution and repair
The processes that bring an inflammatory response to an end, restore tissue, and determine whether repair or persistence follows.

Who the journal is for
Its readership spans researchers who meet inflammation from different directions: molecular and cell biologists, immunologists, pathologists and physiologists, pharmacologists, and clinical and translational investigators working on inflammatory disease — among others whose questions lead into the same biology.
A reader working in one of those areas should be able to follow work from another, which is why reporting quality sits among the criteria by which manuscripts are assessed. The journal serves readers who want the mechanism and readers who want the disease context, and treats both as parts of the same literature.
Editorial responsibility
Review
All submissions undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts that meet the journal's scope and minimum requirements proceed to independent peer review.
Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request.
Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.
Decisions
Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal.
Editorial decisions remain independent of fees, memberships, roles and paid services.

Research ethics
Studies involving human participants require institutional review board approval and documented informed consent, and animal research requires ethical committee approval.
Authors disclose conflicts of interest and follow the reporting guidelines that apply to their study design. The full requirements are set out in the Editorial Policies.
Access and terms
Articles are published open access under CC BY 4.0, and authors retain copyright while granting broad reuse rights.
Publication is supported by an article processing charge, which is payable only after a manuscript has been accepted. Current terms are published on the Article Processing Charges page.
