Propose a Special Issue
Journal of Precision Agriculture welcomes proposals for focused collections that address important questions in precision agriculture. Researchers with relevant expertise are invited to review the requirements below and contact the editorial office.
A collection works best when it gathers work that would not otherwise sit together: a method and its field validation, a production system seen through several instruments, or a question that needs agronomy, engineering and analysis in the same volume.
What a proposal contains
Send the following to the editorial office:
- A working title and a paragraph setting out the question the collection addresses.
- Why the topic is timely, and how it sits within the journal's Aims and Scope.
- The proposed guest editors, with their affiliations and relevant publications.
- The kinds of contribution sought, and any groups or networks likely to contribute.
- An indicative timetable for submission and review.
Guest editors
Guest editors are appointed by the journal and work within its policies. They help shape the collection, identify contributors and oversee review of the submissions they handle.
A guest editor who is an author on a submission to their own collection does not handle it; it is reassigned to an editor with no interest in the work. The same applies to any other conflict of interest.
Standards inside a collection
A special issue changes what a collection is about, and its manuscripts are judged on the journal's ordinary terms. The journal approves the reviewers appointed to a special-issue submission and retains final editorial decision authority over it, so the standard that applies inside a collection is the standard that applies everywhere else. Every submission is screened, reviewed and decided accordingly. All submissions undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts that meet the journal's scope and minimum requirements proceed to independent peer review.
Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request. Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal.
