Article Processing Charges
Submission and peer review are free to authors at Journal of Water, and every published article is free to read. A single article processing charge becomes payable once a manuscript has been accepted.

The charge funds the work that turns an accepted manuscript into a permanent, openly available article: editorial handling and the administration of peer review, professional production in HTML, PDF and JATS XML, Crossref DOI registration, metadata distribution, and continued hosting of the version of record.
Authors are invoiced after formal acceptance. Submission and review are free to authors, and the published article is free to read.

Submission
Free to authors. The manuscript enters editorial screening.

Free to authors. Review and editorial handling are covered by the journal. Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request.

The article processing charge becomes payable, less any agreed reduction.

The article is published open access under CC BY 4.0 and stays free to read.
Editorial independence
The decision rests with the editors and reviewers
Editorial decisions rest with the handling editor and the reviewers, and remain independent of fees, membership, and editorial or reviewing roles. Requests for a reduction are assessed separately from peer review, by the editorial office rather than by the handling editor, so a manuscript is judged on its scholarship alone.
Fee relief
Support with the charge
The publisher operates partial waivers and reduced rates, assessed on need and independently of the editorial decision. They cover authors in low- and lower-middle-income economies, students on presentation of a valid student identification, and editors and reviewers. One reduction applies to a manuscript.
A request is made to the editorial office at [email protected] before or at the point of submission. The terms that apply, and the amount, are confirmed by the editorial office; the publisher’s charges policy states the arrangements it operates.
Withdrawal
Authors should contact the editorial office promptly and wait for written confirmation before submitting the work elsewhere.
Manuscripts withdrawn within 3 days of submission are not subject to a withdrawal charge.
Manuscripts withdrawn more than 3 days after submission incur a withdrawal charge equal to 30% of the journal's APC.
Authors must receive official withdrawal confirmation before submitting the manuscript to another journal.
