Three routes are open, all of them equivalent. Use one of them for a given manuscript.
The routes below reach the same editorial office and the same process. Choose whichever suits how you work.
Authors must use only one submission route for the same manuscript. Submitting the same work by two routes creates duplicate records that delay its handling.

Routes
Where to submit
All three are current and permitted. The primary route is the manuscript system; the others exist so that a submission is never blocked by it.
Primary route — ManuscriptZone
Submit through the publisher’s manuscript system at oap.manuscriptzone.net. It tracks the submission through review and holds correspondence in one place.
Alternative route — submission form
Use the simple manuscript submission form, which arrives at the editorial office preselected for this journal.
Assisted route — editorial email
Send the manuscript and its declarations to [email protected] and the editorial office will register it for you.

Article types
Accepted article types
The journal considers seven article types for submission.
Research Article
Original observational, experimental, modeling or impact research.
Review Article
Authoritative synthesis of an established weather or atmospheric-science topic.
Systematic Review and Meta-analysis
Reproducible evidence synthesis using a documented search and analysis method.
Methods Article
Validated instruments, forecasting methods, models, algorithms or analytical workflows.
Data/Resource Article
Well-documented datasets, observing networks, reanalyses, software or community resources.
Short Communication
Concise, complete findings of immediate scientific relevance.
Case Study
Rigorous analysis of a specific weather event, forecasting episode or location, with conclusions limited to the supporting evidence.
Editorials, Perspectives and Commentaries are invitation-only.
Before you send
What to have ready
A submission moves faster when these arrive with it. Full preparation requirements are on Instructions for Authors.
- The manuscript, with methods reported in enough detail to be repeated
- Title, abstract and keywords
- Every author’s name, affiliation and ORCID iD where available, and the corresponding author identified
- A data-availability statement, with repository identifiers where data or code are deposited
- Competing-interest and funding declarations
- Written permission for any figure, table or dataset reproduced from another source
- A title-page file kept separate, if you are requesting double-blind review
After it arrives
What to expect
Each stage answers a different question, and you are told the outcome of each.

Screening
All submissions undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts that meet the journal's scope and minimum requirements proceed to independent peer review.

Review
Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request. Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.

Decision
Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal.

Publication
On acceptance the charge of USD 1,800 becomes payable; there is no submission fee. The article is copyedited, typeset, assigned a DOI and published open access under CC BY 4.0.
