Article Processing Charges
What the charge is for, and when it applies
Journal of ADHD And Care is fully open access. Submission and peer review are free of charge, and an article processing charge of USD 1,440 applies once a manuscript has been accepted for publication.
The charge covers the work that turns an accepted manuscript into a permanent, freely readable version of record. This page sets out what that includes, when payment is asked for, and the terms that apply if a manuscript is withdrawn.
Independence
Decisions are reached independently of payment
Editorial decisions remain independent of fees, services, memberships, and roles. Submission and peer review are free of charge, and an invoice is raised only once an editor has accepted the manuscript.
Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request.
Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal.
What the charge covers
One charge covers the whole of publication, and each part of the work below is included in it.
Editorial handling
Screening, reviewer selection, the management of peer review, and the editorial decision process.
Production
Copy-editing queries, typesetting, proofing with the corresponding author, and the creation of the final version of record.
Identifiers and metadata
DOI registration where applicable, structured metadata, and the machine-readable record that discovery services read.
Permanent availability
Hosting of the open-access article and its deposit for long-term preservation.

Authors with a question about invoicing or an institutional payment route can write to the editorial office before they submit.
Before acceptance
Submission and peer review are free of charge. Payment details are requested once a manuscript has been accepted.
On acceptance
An invoice is raised and sent to the corresponding author or the billing contact they nominate. Authors with a funder or institutional payment route are asked to share those details at this point so the invoice can be addressed correctly.
Withdrawing a manuscript
These terms apply publisher-wide and are stated here in full.
Withdrawal policy
Authors should contact the editorial office promptly and wait for written confirmation before submitting the work elsewhere.
Manuscripts withdrawn within 3 days of submission are not subject to a withdrawal charge.
Manuscripts withdrawn more than 3 days after submission incur a withdrawal charge equal to 30% of the journal’s APC.
Authors must receive official withdrawal confirmation before submitting the manuscript to another journal.
