Article Processing Charges
The charge is raised after a decision has already been made, and never before.
The Journal of Model Based Research is open access: there is no subscription and no charge to read. Publication is funded by an article processing charge, raised once a manuscript has been accepted.
When it applies
What is charged, and at what point
Submission is free. Screening and peer review are free. An article processing charge applies only when a manuscript has been accepted for publication, and it is the author's or the funder's responsibility rather than the reader's.
The charge covers editorial handling, production, permanent identification of the article, and its continued open availability. It is quoted in United States dollars and is set by the manuscript type.

Figures shown are the journal's published charges. Invoicing, tax treatment and payment arrangements are handled by the publisher's billing office, which will confirm the amount that applies to a specific accepted manuscript.
Independence
The charge and the decision are separate
The charge is raised after acceptance because it is a publication cost, not a condition of consideration. Editorial decisions are taken on the manuscript alone.
Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request. All submissions undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts that meet the journal's scope and minimum requirements proceed to independent peer review.
Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal. Those decisions are made independently of any fee, service, membership or role, and an inability to meet a charge is not a reason for a manuscript to be declined.

Authors who expect difficulty with the charge are invited to write to the editorial office at [email protected] before acceptance. Any reduction that applies to a particular manuscript is confirmed in writing by the publisher.

Withdrawal
If a manuscript is withdrawn
A manuscript may be withdrawn at any point. The terms below are publisher-wide and apply to this journal in full.
Withdrawal policy
Authors should contact the editorial office promptly and wait for written confirmation before submitting the work elsewhere.
Manuscripts withdrawn within 3 days of submission are not subject to a withdrawal charge.
Manuscripts withdrawn more than 3 days after submission incur a withdrawal charge equal to 30% of the journal's APC.
Authors must receive official withdrawal confirmation before submitting the manuscript to another journal.
