The three submission routes
- Primary route
- ManuscriptZone — The journal's submission portal, which tracks a manuscript from submission through decision.
- Alternative route
- Simple manuscript submission form — A short web form that arrives already set to this journal.
- Assisted route
- [email protected] — Write to [email protected] and the editorial office will start the submission for you.
Authors must use only one submission route for the same manuscript.
Sending the same work by more than one route creates duplicate records and slows the handling of every manuscript in the queue, including yours.
Before you send
What to have ready
A submission is quicker to process when it arrives complete.
With the manuscript
- The manuscript file, in Word (.docx) or LaTeX, with pages and lines numbered.
- A title page with all authors, affiliations and the corresponding author's contact details.
- Figures at publication resolution and tables in editable form.
- Declarations: funding, competing interests, data and code availability, ethics approval where it applies, and author contributions.
- Any supplementary material the work should be read with.
- A short cover letter saying what the manuscript contributes.

If you want double-blind review
Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request. Say so in the submission, and prepare the manuscript accordingly.
For double-blind review, remove author names, affiliations, acknowledgments, funding details, institution names, and other identifying information from the reviewer manuscript. Provide identifying information separately in the title-page file or submission form.
After you send
What happens next
All submissions undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts that meet the journal's scope and minimum requirements proceed to independent peer review.
Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.
Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal. Those decisions rest with the editors and are made independently of any fee, service, membership or role.
Submitting a manuscript is free. An article processing charge is raised only after acceptance, on the terms published on the Article Processing Charges page, which also carries the complete withdrawal policy.
