What membership is
Membership is optional. It exists so that researchers, clinicians and institutions who want the journal’s work to remain openly available can support it.
Members follow the journal’s work as it is published and support the cost of keeping it openly available to every reader.
How manuscripts are assessed
Editorial assessment is independent of membership: every manuscript is judged on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal, and membership confers no advantage in the review or acceptance of a member’s own work.
Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request.
All submissions undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts that meet the journal’s scope and minimum requirements proceed to independent peer review.

Current terms
Researchers and institutions considering membership are invited to write to the editorial office at [email protected], which will confirm the categories currently offered, what each includes, the fee and the renewal period that apply.
Any arrangement that affects publishing costs is stated in full on the Article Processing Charges page, so that the terms a member is offered and the terms published by the journal are the same terms.
