Journal of Energy Conservation welcomes proposals for focused collections that address important questions in energy conservation and efficiency. Researchers with relevant expertise are invited to review the proposal requirements and contact the editorial office.

Themes within the journal’s scope
Proposals may address themes such as these, or any other theme within the Aims and Scope.
Smart grid technologies and energy storage
Grid integration, battery storage systems, demand-response optimization, and intelligent energy management for renewable power distribution.
Building energy efficiency and green architecture
Sustainable building design, HVAC optimization, passive heating and cooling, and net-zero energy construction.
Industrial energy conservation and process optimization
Manufacturing energy efficiency, waste heat recovery, cogeneration, and industrial decarbonization.
Transportation electrification and sustainable mobility
Electric vehicle technologies, charging infrastructure, hydrogen fuel systems, and sustainable transportation policy.
Renewable energy integration and hybrid systems
Solar–wind hybrid installations, microgrids, off-grid solutions, and renewable energy forecasting.
Safeguards
How special issues are run
- Peer review
- All submissions undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts that meet the journal's scope and minimum requirements proceed to independent peer review. Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request. Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.
- Decisions
- Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal. Decisions remain independent of fees, services, memberships, and editorial roles.
- Guest editors
- Guest editors disclose conflicts of interest and recuse themselves from decisions on their own submissions; those manuscripts are handled independently.
- Fees
- The article processing charge is USD 1,499, invoiced upon acceptance, as for every article.
