Journal of Energy Conservation is fully open access: its articles are free to read and reuse, and publication costs are covered by a single article processing charge (APC), invoiced after a manuscript is accepted.

- Journal content is committed to Portico, a not-for-profit digital-preservation archive.
Editorial independence
Payment and editorial decisions are separate
Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal. Decisions remain independent of fees, services, memberships, and editorial roles.
Fee-relief requests and payment arrangements are handled by the editorial office separately from peer review, and they have no bearing on the outcome of a submission.
Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request. Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.

Questions about invoices, payment arrangements, or fee relief can be sent to the editorial office at [email protected]. Journal members receive an APC discount set by membership category: 15% for Individual Researcher members and 25% for Research Laboratory members, as set out on the Membership page.
Institutional and funder support
Many universities, laboratories, and research funders support open-access publication charges; authors can check with their library, grants office, or research division. The editorial office can provide documentation for funding requests.
CC BY 4.0 licensing supports open access and reuse. Authors should check their award’s repository, deposit, data-management, and reporting requirements.
Withdrawal
Withdrawing a manuscript
Authors should contact the editorial office promptly and wait for written confirmation before submitting the work elsewhere.
Manuscripts withdrawn within 3 days of submission are not subject to a withdrawal charge.
Manuscripts withdrawn more than 3 days after submission incur a withdrawal charge equal to 30% of the journal's APC.
Authors must receive official withdrawal confirmation before submitting the manuscript to another journal.
