Membership
What membership is, and what it is separate from
Membership is an optional arrangement that supports the journal's open-access publishing. It is held by individuals and by institutions, and it is administered by the editorial office.
Membership is separate from the editorial process. A member's manuscript is screened, reviewed and decided on exactly as any other manuscript is, by the same people, against the same criteria, in the same order.
- Peer review
- Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request.
- Editorial decisions
- Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal.
- Editorial and reviewer roles
- Appointment to the editorial board or the reviewer pool follows scholarly standing and subject expertise.
- Article processing charges
- The charge and the terms on which it is payable are published on the Article Processing Charges page and apply to members and non-members alike.
